What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is an effective and specialized treatment technique for addressing various musculoskeletal conditions and alleviating pain. This evidence-based therapy involves the insertion of thin, solid, monofilament needles into specific trigger points, tight muscles, or areas of tissue dysfunction.
Unlike traditional acupuncture, dry needling targets myofascial trigger points and stimulates the body's natural healing mechanisms. Addressing these trigger points can help with pain, reduced range of motion, and muscular dysfunction.
How Does Dry Needling Work?
During a dry needling session, the needles are inserted into the identified trigger points, creating a therapeutic response, and altering pain pathways. These changes lead to biochemical and mechanical changes in the affected tissues. This process helps release muscle tension, improve blood flow, and promote the body's natural healing processes, accelerating recovery and complementing our other therapies.
Some examples of conditions dry needling may be used to treat are headaches of cervical tension and migraine origin, radiculopathy, sciatica, tendonitis, mechanical pain of the neck and back, as well as injuries associated with the joints of the spine and extremities.
